Beautiful Manifestation

We have just put our house up for sale. We’ve been working towards this these past several years with a conscious effort to get the place looking it’s best. However, I’m aware of how we’ve really been working towards this since we first bought this land in 1995, moving into our new home in February of ’96.

Lynn and I do love the process of creating a beautiful space. We started with a cleared lot, built a home, and created beautiful gardens. Now, that we are ready to move on, everything has come together with beauty and grace. It’s quite remarkable to see the manifestations of our work together, all of the details coming into focus. I’m most proud right now of our gardening shed. It is this cute little structure in our lower yard, built to house our tools and lawnmower.

We are very excited to move onto our next project, without knowing exactly what that may be. A new home and new outdoor spaces, the details shall be seen.

We Graduate with Connor

This past Saturday, Connor graduated from Kealakehe High School. It really hit me about 15 minutes before the above photo was taken that Connor was leaving home shortly. The family was graduating from an era.

The home will no doubt be a quieter place now. And, we will no doubt miss Connor. It will be interesting to see what the next year brings.

I am so incredibly blessed in my life, yet I so easily forget that fact when I get caught up in the worries and challenges of living in this physical world. It’s such an interesting thing, because it is that very sort of behavior that makes for more to worry about.

So, let me focus on the joys in my life. I am blessed with a dynamic, lovely family. Lynn is a phenomenal, beautiful force that keeps me in line and challenges my ego to let loose.

Taylor is a brilliant beam that commands whatever group she is in. She is beautiful in every way.

Connor leaves me struggling for the right words. When I gave the blessing at our party’s blessing for the food, I started out saying I was speechless. I then managed to ramble on a bit, but still felt inadequately verbally spent. Connor is an entity that constantly impresses me in a variety of ways. He has an incredible ability to comprehend complex systems, he can have phenomenal situational awareness, and also a unique, creative side that is a constant source of entertainment. Feel the fabric.

These people are my joy, inspiration, and challenge. I am fortunate beyond words in having them in my life!

She’s been the mad hatter these past couple of weeks, producing a number of hats, most of them using a new pattern she’s discovered.
I built the website and configured the shopping cart. We’re now in the process of figuring out how to best get photos of the hats, having built a light box, and now investigating digital SLR cameras.

Water Work

Working on the water has an intrinsic value that cannot easily be summed up in words. However, these short video clips can give a sense of some of the beauty I get to experience out on the big blue. Both clips were shot using my new Flip Mino HD video camera and were on board the Hula Kai.The first, shot during one of our manta ray tours last week, is quite brief but you can see how beautiful the lights are in the water. The second clip was taken yesterday during our morning Hula Kai snorkel tour. It shows three humpback whales (Mother, Calf, & Escort) and bottlenose dolphins passing within 50 yards as we were all eating lunch!

Keauhou Tsunami Surge

On September 29,2009, an earthquake rocked Samoa and created a tsunami surge which hit the Big Island. The forecast called for “possible sea level changes” which did indeed effect the state. However, for the most part, these sea level changes were minor and largely went unnoticed throughout the state. Keauhou Bay, where I work, seems to have been one of the exceptions.

With my iPhone, I managed to get some photos of the changes during the largest of the surges that hit us, which occurred at about 3:15pm.
